Cueva del Salitre — Xilitla

Admission is $50 pesos per person. The site now has its own entrance (special access) on federal highway 120 towards Huichihuayán, a few minutes from downtown Xilitla, with a short trail to the cave.

It's a popular spot for caving, rappelling and rock climbing: its walls have five bolted routes. You can also walk it after a short trail of about 10 minutes.

The dry season (November to May). In the rainy season water tends to seep in and it can even flood, so it's best avoided.

Admission to Cueva del Salitre — Xilitla costs $50 MXN per person (the site now has its own entrance). Bringing cash is recommended just in case.

The best season to visit Cueva del Salitre — Xilitla is Dry season (Nov–May); it tends to seep water and flood during the rains. The best time of day to arrive is Morning to make the most of the experience.

Plan about 2 hours to enjoy Cueva del Salitre — Xilitla at a relaxed pace. The site is open Daylight hours (check at the entrance) (Year-round (may flood in the rainy season)).

To visit Cueva del Salitre — Xilitla we recommend bringing: torch or headlamp, closed shoes with grip, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, cash, water. Important: In the rainy season the cave can flood from seepage. Caving, rappelling and climbing require gear and a guide; don't enter the technical sections without experience.
